SARAH BURKE

CANADA

On January 19th 2012, Smith lost a key member of our family with the passing of Sarah Burke. Sarah was not only a leader of this team, but of the entire sport of skiing. Her beauty and athletic prowess was dwarfed by her outstanding character, work ethic, and kind heart. Her strength and determination made it possible for not only Sarah to achieve her dreams, but her unselfish efforts and hard work to bring credibility to women’s skiing helped pave the way for all of her peers today. Sarah is a pioneer, a legend, and an amazing woman that all of us are going to miss dearly. Our thoughts and support are always going to be with her family. Please join us in making a donation to the fund to help support her family.

Name:  Sarah Burke

Date of Birth: September 3

Place of Birth: Barrie Ontario Canada

Current home town: Whistler/Squamish BC

Other sponsors: Roxy, Monster Energy, Swix, Whistler/Blackcomb, Empire Gloves

Greatest accomplishments in skiing:. Winning X Games 6 times.  Winning an ESPY

Why do you like Smith Optics?: Smith has been my longest  running sponsor.  I love everything about them, the product is top notch, the team and employees are fun and friendly, and Smith knows how to have a good time

Favorite Smith product: I/OS Goggles for shredding and I am always a fan of the Aura sunnies

First memory of going big:  When I was about eight I was skiing with my teenage Sister and her friends.  The boys were hitting a jump and I went for it too!  Big Spread Eagle! I felt pretty awesome!

What is the best thing about being a pro skier? Travel, friends, fans, lifestyle!

The Worst?: Traveling.  There can be long days, canceled flights and weeks away from home.

In the off season, I like to… Work on my house.  Garden.  Hang on a patio with my girlfriends.  Mountain Bike.  Adventure to new places.

In 15 years I hope to be….  Have gone to the Olympics, have a little fam and be doing something rad!
